MS. Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju

It gives me great pleasure, both as a member of Maadhyam – International Council for Conflict Resolution and as a Judge of the High Court, to know that Maadhyam is organising the International ADR Conference 2026 on the theme “ADR Pathways to Legal Harmony.”

Alternative Dispute Resolution has emerged as an integral component of the modern justice system. By providing efficient, collaborative, and cost-effective mechanisms for resolving disputes, mediation and arbitration complement the judicial process, promote access to justice, and foster an amicable resolution of conflicts.

My association with mediation has been greatly enriched through the various programmes organised by Maadhyam, particularly the opportunity to be part of the Indian delegation to the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Pepperdine University, USA, in 2018. That experience further strengthened my conviction that institutionalised mediation holds immense promise as an effective mechanism for dispute resolution, fostering dialogue, preserving relationships, and facilitating enduring and mutually acceptable settlements.

I commend Maadhyam for its sustained commitment to advancing mediation and arbitration through training, research, capacity building, and international collaboration. By bringing together the judiciary, legal profession, academia, and the global ADR community, the Conference provides a valuable forum for the exchange of ideas and the strengthening of ADR frameworks.

I congratulate Maadhyam and all those associated with this commendable initiative. I am confident that the Conference will make a meaningful contribution to the advancement of ADR and the promotion of legal harmony, and I extend my best wishes for
its success.
